Managed Hosting - is a specialised type of Dedicated Hosting - itself an arrangement by which users lease servers from the data centre of an Internet service provider (ISP) each ‘tenant’ enjoying sole use of a leased server. The ISP accords root/admin access to the user, who then runs and secures their dedicated server.

There are several definitions of Managed Hosting, each relating to a different aspect of the service.

One such definition is a package which combines web hosting with technical support and maintenance’ (unlike standard Dedicated Hosting, in which the customer is responsible for the server’s maintenance and security).
